The LFHA Mobile Task Manager runs on a handheld, 3G enabled PDA with a 240 x 320 pixel screen resolution while a linked desktop application offers extended functionality.

  • Client: Leeds Federated Housing Association
  • Project Type: Bespoke Task Management Application
  • Service Provided: Planning, Design & Build
  • Key Technologies: Windows Mobile, ASP.NET,
    SQL Server 2005

Leeds Federated’s initial requirement was to enable their employees, who work out of the office, to view customer and property related information on a handheld PDA device.

After an initial and very successful proof of concept, the requirement quickly grew into what is now known as the Mobile Task Manager application which is used by both mobile and desktop users. Not only does the application allow their mobile users to see up to date, comprehensive information regarding their customers and properties it also allows them to view and raise tasks that manage their workload.

A parallel desktop element exists with added functionality to fully integrate with all of Leeds Federated’ s critical housing management systems including:

It also integrates with Microsoft Outlook to manage relevant tasks within their Outlook calendar.

The mobile element was designed to be used on a 3G enabled PDA with a 240 x 320 pixel screen resolution running Windows Mobile (the device in use is a Vodafone 1605).

This project is an excellent example of a situation where a bespoke system can give clear advantages over off the shelf products. Having a system that precisely meets the needs of each user by combining numerous technologies means that MTM has very quickly become a central, pivotal system for Leeds Federated in the day-to-day running of their business.
